i ALWAYS ask my kids if they want to get him something and they don't... i can't help that, i always tell them when his b-day is and i make them call him regardless. now he knows my b-day and he never gets them to call me. this year i actually had to force my daughter to call him she didn't want to call and damn sure didn't want to get him anything, and i have NEVER EVER said anything ugly about him TO or INFRONT of my kids, he does it all his own. i try all the time but after a while there is no point in it anymore. when my daughter came home from being there over the summer she made me things for my b-day and gave it to me just the other day, my kids are very uncomfy about asking my ex for anything to do with me and that pisses me off to no end

I'm sorry Mort. I didn't mean this to be a discussion on your personal situation and I am in no way pretending to judge. Your kid's father is missing out on some great experiences. Too bad for him I guess.

My advice was generally aimed at MM4 who I suspect has kids who still have respect for their mother and vice versa.

    Cool

Yeah, have to agree that not all situations are the same. We both love our kids even with our differences and I am trying to put part of me on their early stage.

Mort. that is how My mom was with me when I was a kid, she would never say a negative word about my dad. She figured when I got old enough he would dig his own hole, and he did. And since he lives in another state the only time I get him anything is usually christmas, because he comes into town.

i tell you what his new wife is killing his relationship with his kids but he lets her so... my kids always ask me why can't daddy come see us by himself... they don't like going to his house at all and my daughter is learning things real quick, and in a couple of years there is going to be hell to pay from her. i would absolutely love to have a good relationship with my ex for my kids sake but i am afraid that will never happen, so if you CAN get along with your ex please do so
